Sunday Bike Trip to Varhaug

Autumn in the Jæren, the land of eternal autumn. Between Nærbø and Undheim found Våland''s museum.  Coffee and lefsa with an old lady there.   She presented a decorative plate with Chicago's skyline.  Her grandfather left here and went to work in the forests above Chicago.  The poet Arne Garborg's cabin looks out over Undheim where mountains first meet the flatland.

Serve Day Mural

Every year GFU holds a "Serve Day" where all the faculty and students volunteer at various places in the community.  I was chosen along with another artist to lead the design for a mural to be painted at the Portland Rescue Mission.  Our task was to create an image of Earth turning into Heaven.  It took the 8 of us all day to paint the 13' by 6' wall.  The mural is seen by about 50-70 homeless men as they fall asleep each night.  It was a great artistic and service experience for sure.
