This piece was my last piece in which I was ennobling a horse. I used lichen and other bolder textural pieces which were somewhat successful. I didn't have a clear underlying message as I approached this piece so it is fairly open-ended. I could see this piece as a symbol for the Church with the strong light behind the horse penetrating into the darkness ahead.
This is my favorite piece of last semester in which my content, and technique were executed the best. I felt like the texture added interest and isn't in conflict with the paint. I also added gel medium and wax on the final surface. This piece is a direct response to inspiration I had during worship last year. The content is centered around Matthew 11:28-30 which is written in the bottom right corner.
